Putting the kids to good use

Last Saturday we all got out and cleaned the car together.  The kids absolutely loved it and had been looking forward to it since Adam had mentioned it the day before.

At the indoor play center (Lollipops) afterwards, which we got cheap entry for one a daily deal thingamy.

Leilani is a really good big sister and quite often looks out for her little siblings and helps them along when they need it and need someone to watch out for them.

Hop, Toadstools, Mother's Day etc....

It's been a while, so got quite a bit to catch up on.  First, Leilani won the colouring competition she entered at the mall.  She got a Hop backpack, bunny ears and two tickets to go see the movie.  We went on the Saturday for some Mummy-Daughter time.

Ever wondered what the inside of a Kenwood mixer looks like?  Mine is broken - won't release the safety catch when the top is put down to allow the motor to start, so I tried to take it apart and fix it myself.  Annoyingly I found the two other saftey catches (which are working fine), but couldn't find the problem one to have a go at it.

I guess Tilly didn't fancy sleeping in her own bed.  The toadstool I found on my walk home from dropping Zach at Kindy.  It's typical of a cartoon one you'd draw for a fairy house right?  Only, that's the only place I've seen them before - pretend cartoon ones, never seen one in real life!  I think they're so pretty (but probably very poisonous...)

Then we had mother's day - I got to eat off The Star Plate :)  Also got the rose at church - made from two Hershey's kisses, making my favourite kind of flower - a chocolate one!  And the kids woke me up with presents of goodies I like and breakfast in bed.

The weather is still good enough for us to go the park after school most days.  Whenever the kids are being nice to each other I like to take a picture.  Just to remind me that it CAN happen!  Leilani has become much more daring since being here amongst the outgoing kiwi kids.  She would never have tried climbing this pole before.

Zach has discovered using pens and pencils "properly", meaning in a controlled way.  This is him drawing rockets.  He also likes to practice writing his name.  The shoes were Zach's version of tidying them up when I asked him to do it for the first time.  They are usually lined up against the wall.

And the mandarins on our tree are ready!  There's something I could never have said in England.  And ok, it's not really a tree so much as a few twigs and leaves, but it will grow!
